All you need is L.O.V.E: Love is all you need
Another task while having courses with Unity 3D was the creation of a tilebased game. During the 80ies and early 90ies graphical tielsets were the major way of conserving data while still creating massive worlds. Most famous examples for such games would be of course early roleplaying games like Final Fantasy, but also a lot of puzzlegames like Sokoban and Tetris or Shooters like Xenon 2.
So honoring the early methods of world creation and rulesets we also had to create a game which is made in tilelogic. I choose to amke a puzzle game called "All you need is Love". In the game there is a constant stream of randomly choosen letters "L", "O", "V" and of course "E" and only if you form "LOVE" in any combination it vanishes.
- Tilebased Arraylogic of the field
- Ruleset of constantly checking every combination of "LOVE"
- Objectswapping of active, inactive and matched blocks
- Rearrangement of field at deletion.
After having played it for countless hours, three things are cristal clear: The game is very hard, it is based too much on pure luck & I cant stand this music anymore.
If you like puzzle-games yo should defenetly try this one out. It wont capture it for long but it might show you what wors and what doesnt in you favourite genre. Also I got to note that there is still one bug hounting the game. There must be one combination that doesnt delete a block correctly which can cause some nasty things to happen.
Since it is Unity you can just play it here in your webbrowser or if you prefer download it onto your Intel Mac OSX machine
