Amanzivision: An iPhone game for World Vision Switzerland in cooperation with Bitforge AG
Amanzivision is an iPhone game for World Vision Switzerland
The game tries to show the thematic of the shortage of warter-wells in Africa. Like oh so many people, in the game you have to carry water from a well home to your village. You must proceed to avoid local wildlife and other obstacles by tilting the iPhone motion sensor and keeping the water bucket in level. The setting is very cheerfull and quite silly to be suitable for all ages, while still touching on a critical subject.
The whole game is a charity project. The ammount of water a player collects is noted in a database. All the carried water from all players is then added in statistic. A sponsor is shown in the app at several places during playtime. This sponsor will finance a real water well in Africa once all players have reached a certain goal. The game will then switch the sponsor to the next one to keep on generating views for building those wells.
The game hit the iTunes story on Dezember 9th for the holyday season. World Vision launched an own campaign with flyers, website and ads in magazines for the game.
Amanzivision was buildt in collaboration with Bitforge who are also responsible for the whole server communication. The firm in Rapperswil has specialised in mobile applications and games for years. In their name I was responsible for the detailed game concept, game programming & all graphics. The game is buildt with Unity 3D Pro and Unity iPhone Pro. It currently is iPhone 3 native and supports iPhone4 & iPad by upscaling. Negotiations for an Android version are currently being held.
